Over the past month or so, we have been discussing the idea of Contributive Social Media. We have said that effective Social Media meets an audience need by building community, providing incentives, and providing quality content.
In order to tie all the previous ideas together, we want to discuss Authenticity.
The idea of authenticity has been consistently overused in the world of marketing. However, there is an element of truth in that you marketing is proving to consumers that you provide an authentic product or service.
Essentially, authenticity means being honest, fair, and providing a consistent brand integrity.
We would submit to you that in order to portray an authentic social media presence, you need to practice contributive social media in a way that is both consistent and congruent. If you are actively engaging people, attempting to meet their needs, and genuinely building a community around your brand, you are practicing authenticity.
