Today, we are going to continue in our discussion of Contributive Social Media.
Last week, we discussed building community on Social Media. We said that community is a fellowship of people that results from a common set of attitudes, interests, or goals.
Another practical tip to help create a Contributive online presence is to give incentives.
Now, we have already discussed the idea that quality content can serve as an incentive for people to follow your page. However, that is a bit different than what we are talking about now.
An easy way to get people to follow you is to offer them rewards. In other words, people like free stuff.
Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to give away free gifts. Contests, drawings, and games are all fun and exciting ways to get people involved.
This is where we suggest that you be creative. Find something that aligns well with your brand and can be offered as an incentive to get involved with your Social Media.
For example: We worked with a café in the past that offered a great incentive: You could receive a free drink if you took a picture at the café, posted the photo on Instagram, and used a certain hashtag.
In that simplified example, everyone involved gained something valuable. The result for the business was a dramatic increase in content marketing. It got people more aware on Social Media and ultimately in the door of the café. For the consumers, the result was a free beverage.
This is where things can be really fun and interesting. Once you have begun to establish a consistent and curated Social Media presence, you can really start to find fun and creative ways to get people involved.
The part of all of this is that you will not only build your company – you will build friendships.
